Meet Barnice, a determined biomedical student who is currently on attachment at Mbagathi Hospital, where she’s gaining hands-on experience under the Biomedical Department. Her story, though still unfolding, is one of resilience, ambition, and transformation.

Barnice is one of many beneficiaries supported through the Optiven Foundation’s Education Pillar, in partnership with Upside Trust. With her tuition covered and basic needs taken care of, she can now focus on building a career that not only uplifts her but also gives back to her community. Her supervisors describe her as hardworking, eager to learn, and deeply committed to her craft.

The Optiven Foundation believes that every young person deserves a chance to dream. That is why the Foundation does not just stop at giving out scholarships. The team regularly checks in with beneficiaries, conducts school and site visits, and offers mentorship and encouragement along the way.

🎓 Investing in TVET and University Education.
Through targeted scholarships to both TVET institutions and universities, the Foundation is bridging the gap for students from underserved communities. These scholarships cover tuition fees, learning materials, and where necessary, accommodation and transport costs. More importantly, they come with a sense of belonging and mentorship that many young people in Kenya are missing.

Beyond Education: Building a Stronger Kenya.
By supporting access to education, the Optiven Foundation is not just producing graduates—it’s nurturing leaders, healthcare workers, innovators, and agents of change.
Education is at the core of sustainable development, and through strategic partnerships like the one with Upside Trust, the Foundation is building a legacy.

“When you empower one child, you empower a family. And when you empower a family, you impact a whole generation,” Dr. George Wachiuri, Trustee Optiven foundation.
