Fusion Capital Limited increased its philanthropic contribution to Optiven Foundation through the Soaring Eagles Scholarship Programme, worth One Million Kenya Shillings. Optiven Foundation has been changing lives one student at a time.  “We at Fusion believe in being responsible members of the communities in which we invest and that is the reason we are here today. To play our role as members of the community in educating the child,” said Daniel Kamau, CEO Fusion Capital Limited.

Appreciating the support, George Wachiuri, Chairman of the Optiven Group Foundation said: “Beneficiaries who are bright but needy and come from a background that is incapable of providing their secondary school education are considered. Here we do not discriminate the beneficiaries based on where they come from but are advised by the performance, need and attitude of the student towards achieving education”.

Wachiuri, who is also a Trustee at the Optiven Group Foundation advises that the education pillar has received a lot of attention from key stakeholders and the needs for support can however not be matched as they are massive. He says, “We are continuously receiving requests to support students to access their secondary education across the board but are limited in terms of resources.

This is why we remain grateful to the different stakeholders that have been deliberate to partner with us in order to make a transformational difference in our society.” According to Wachiuri, the Optiven Group Foundation is working alongside the United Nations in realization of the Sustainable Development Goals specifically to do with SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

His sentiments come as Fusion Capital Limited through its operational office in Nairobi provided financial support towards education to the Optiven Group Foundation. The support was a key stimulus to the education pillar that saw more students absorbed under the Soaring Eagles Scholarship Programme SESP in the year 2020/2021.

The CEO of Fusion Capital Ltd Mr. Kamau, during the cheque presentation at Optiven Headquarters further said, “This being an election year for our country, there is a tendency for politicians to involve children in campaigns in their effort to paint a picture of popularity and for the cameras. We are participants in the education sector want to request politicians to keep off Children. More importantly we want politicians to commit to NO ELECTION VIOLENCE. So our message is very simple- KEEP OFF OUR CHILDREN.”

Additionally, on Friday, 27th May 2022 the Optiven Group Foundation received further funding for education from Fusion Capital Limited worth of one million shillings at an event held at Absa Towers. Present to receive the cheque was Mr. Wachiuri and the team from the Optiven Group Foundation. The amount donated today is set to benefit students in secondary and high schools including those enrolled in day schools across the counties.
