Optiven Foundation Supports Top KCPE Student

There is a certain sprint in the young lad’s walk as he looks around to familiarize himself with the environment. Clear confidence engulfs his little stature as he occasionally looks to his left where his father is and to the right where his mother reassures. To those who do not know him, Andy Michael Munyiri is your usual primary school child - kind of like those in class 6 from any primary school. But there is something about his thoughts and the desire to have a better world that sets him apart.

Today he is the guest of Optiven Foundation Chairman, Mr. George Wachiuri and is hosted at the Head Quarters of the Optiven Group located on Barclays Plaza 14th floor. The former student of Damacrest Academy, in Thogoto caught the eye of Mr. Wachiuri as he hails from the same area of Kieni. Speaking shortly before taking Andy on a tour of the head office, Wachiuri initimated that “The young man actually hails from an area called Maragima, located in Kieni Constituency, and in Nyeri County.

Why I find it exciting is that this area is just a few ridges from where I was born and brought up. For Andy I am pleased to congratulate him for being Kenya’s top 2019 KCPE candidate. His achievement to score 440 marks in incredible.” Wachiuri added that he was encouraged by Andy’s hard work that has propelled him to be the best candidate in 2019 countrywide. “I do wish him all the best in his academic explouts and believe that if he continues in this stride, the future is indeed bright” he added

Wachiuri further presented a cheque of 20,000 shillings to Andy in his capacity as the Chairman of the Optiven Foundation adding that the token was to encourage the youth to work hard in school and be agents of transformation in the society.

Andy thanked the Optiven Foundation for their great support and at the same time encouraged those in primary schools that are preparing for the examinations for the year 2020 to work hard and that nothing is impossible if they believe in God. Andy indicated his desire to become an automotive engineer. He also took the opportunity to thank his teachers for being there for him, giving encouragement and guidance adding that ‘success is a joint effort’. He called on the government of President Uhuru Kenyatta to improve education in remote areas of the country which will ensure that more children have an opportunity to get an education wherever they are in the country.
Andy hopes to join Alliance Boys High School and later join Harvard University in the United States of America. Optiven Foundations support is in addition to that of the Nyeri County Government that will cater for his subsequent education as confirmed by Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
