TVET SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME FOR DESERVING NEEDY STUDENTS

On23rd October 2022, Optiven Foundation visited the Nyeri National Polytechnic to assess and offer support to the students through their Soaring Eagles Scholarship Program for Technical Vocational Education and Training(TVET). Quality education is under sustainable development goal 4 willing to ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

On this particular day together with their Coordinator, Anne Nyagah, the Foundation team interacted with the new students enrolled at the polytechnic in the recent September intake program. Education and job readiness is a key pillar by the Foundation aiming to create visible transformation that positively impacts the communities.

The Nyeri Polytechnic offers a variety of courses from; welding as fabrication, secretarial studies, sales and marketing and more, all equipping these students with ready skills to conquer the markets. Education is still an integral aspect of our system especially the TVET’s seeking to bring social economic transformation in our society.

The day was a huge success as the team got to converse and connect with the students and offered them guidance and motivation as they kicked off their higher learning journey. The courses take 1-2 years and after the session, they are awarded certificates.

The Foundation not only supports those in technical vocational education and training but also those in secondary education, supporting over 500 deserving needy students.
