Education has been a key ingredient to George Wachiuri’s accomplishments and after inspiring students at his home in Nyeri through his doctorate recognition, the Optiven Foundation chairman, continues imparting more students. Kiama primary and junior school, amidst the Success Gardens phase 2 project, was the latest beneficiary after the Optiven Foundation supported by building a perimeter wall, state of the art gate and standard washrooms.

George Wachiuri is a champion of the Education pillar by the Optiven Foundation and insisted on the profound impact that infrastructure development can have on the well being and prosperity of individuals. “The construction of the perimeter wall, gate and washrooms is not merely a physical endeavour but a symbol of unwavering dedication to improving the conditions of those in need,” he stated.

He called on former alumnus of Kiama school including the current MCA who was present, to come together and identify ways in which the school can further be supported and uplifted to making a lasting image.

The school that was started in 1947 with a population of approximately 400 students has transformed lives and aims to impact even more lives as Kiama school has seen a boom in students and teachers since the construction. The gates and perimeter wall improved security by controlling access of the students and preventing unauthorised entry with the new washrooms both for teachers and students ensuring they have access to facilities that offer privacy, dignity and maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation.

Nominated minister of Parliament Sabina Chege was the chief guest and in her capacity lauded the Optiven Foundation for enhancing dignity at Kiama school and for consistently demonstrating commitment to improving lives and pledged to ensure access of water. Later she together with George Wachiuri officially launched the new infrastructure and expressed gratitude to all those who made it possible.

George Wachiuri planted a tree as a symbolic gesture of leaving a lasting legacy as it commemorates the occasion and ensures that future generations will benefit from the positive impact of the project long after its launch.
