In the battle to fight hunger in the country, on 13th February 2017 Mr. George Wachiuri, Chairman of Optiven Foundation launched the Feed One More initiative. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees contributed Kshs.2,000,000 (Two Million Kenyan Shillings) with regards to the initiative after the Chairman made a call for action to all Kenyans to partner with National Drought Management Authority to give relief assistance to those facing starvation in parts of the country. The food insecurity resulted from drought due to the short rains and the drying up of rivers in a section of the country.

Mr. Wachiuri stated that Kenyans should do what they can to provide assistance to those facing starvation in the drought-stricken parts of the country, and not wait for foreign countries to come to their rescue. He emphasized that the threat is real and if we all partnered to put one drop as individuals, corporates, churches, private and public organizations, we would make a big difference in addressing this calamity. He also stated that the country needs solutions to avoid the recurrence of drought situations. Every shilling counts. You can skip a meal to feed one more!
