“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” – Mother Teresa

Charity is all about the voluntary giving of help, especially to those who are in need. And as the United Nations observes the International Day of Charity, it is imperative to quickly point out that the very acts of volunteerism and philanthropy provides for us, real social bonding and contributes to the creation of inclusive and more resilient societies.

Here at Optiven Foundation, we strongly believe that Charity, especially in the developing world, helps alleviate the worst effects of humanitarian crises, supplements public services in matters education, health care, housing, child protection amongst other areas.

Our Foundation resonates with the United Nations’ statement thus; “It assists the advancement of culture, science, sports, and the protection of cultural and natural heritage. It also promotes the rights of the marginalized and underprivileged and spreads the message of humanity in conflict situations.”

Optiven believes in giving back to the local communities, this has been achieved through the Optiven Foundation- which is an offshoot of Optiven Group. The Foundation is involved in philanthropic works on the key areas of poverty alleviation, environmental protection, education and health. Indeed, this is the compassionate eye on the Kenyan society.

One of the Foundation’s most successful programs is an education scholarship known as – Soaring Eagles Sponsorship http://www.optivenfoundation.org/soaringeagles So far, this initiative has overseen successful scholarship of hundreds of students from poor family backgrounds across all Kenyan counties.
