The Optiven Foundation has in the last 10 years invested deliberately in children. As the world celebrates the World Day for Children, we take a peek at what Optiven has done through it’s subsidiaries and the foundation.
Optiven Real Estate has provided spaces for children in all it’s projects. These include parks and walk paths that enable children to interact and play while at home. George Wachiuri, CEO at Optiven Group says, “our projects are family centric with children’s well being being core to how we plan out our projects. As an investor you will find a play area, a barbecue corner, jogging and cycling paths and enough greenig for fresh air“.
But what happens when children want to go out of the home for entertainment? This is where hotels come in and the Optiven Group has answers. Such a facility that focuses on children is found in Kitengela. GMC Place KITENGELA is home to vast children games.
The colourful ambience puts children at ease on arrival. The wide variety of games keeps them active throughout. When they’re done with the games, the children find their way to the solar heated pool before enjoying freshly prepared food for their enjoyment. https://www.funplace.co.ke/gmc-place-kitengela-is-now-a-topscore-brand/
Mary Wacuka of GMC Place says, “we are all about families but children are a key part of our existence. To cater for them we have a special menu, toilets and birthday party organised just for them. Because of the children that’s why we say the fun never ends“.
And at the Optiven Group Foundation, children continue to be a part of the philanthropic activities. This November, the foundation donated a toilet block to Korompoi Primary School. To celebrate the International Women’s Day in March, the foundation donated foodstuff and toiletries to Langata Women’s Prison.
The Foundation continues to reach out to support children’s homes including, Flomina Children’s Home in Kayole, the Don Orione Special School in Muranga and Teule Community in Loitoktok. Charles Muraguri, a Trustee with the Optiven Group Foundation says, “through the foundation we have helped children in matters pertaining to education, health and wellness, in line with our pillars,. We do this knowing that our children will grow up better, safer and happier”. https://www.optivenfoundation.org/news-and-blogs/optiven-foundation-empowers-children-ahead-of-day-of-the-african-child/
The theme for World Children’s Day 2021 is ‘A Better Future for Every Child‘. The theme is being observed in accordance to the global coronavirus pandemic which has affected the rights of every child. From the Optiven Group, happy world children’s day.
